Job Description: To ensure that each shelter animal is provided the highest quality of care, remains comfortable and in clean quarters, and is provided with daily exercise during their stay at Wayside Waifs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Rotate dogs in to playgroups, Feed and water dogs, Spot clean all areas throughout the day, Lay blankets and provide toys to the animals
Education/Experience Required: Education/Experience Required: High school graduate or equivalent required. General knowledge of animal welfare helpful. Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Computer experience – Windows based – preferred.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist-height, Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping and similar movements required, Must be able to physically restrain dogs weighing up to and including 100 lbs

We are a multi-doctor full-service small animal veterinary clinic in Shawnee, KS. The position of the Receptionist requires an outgoing, dependable, detail-oriented and resourceful person. Initiative, a well-groomed appearance, maturity, confidentiality and discretion are necessary as well. While an appreciation for animals is essential in our business, we require the same skills and professionalism needed to work in any medical facility. Duties include greeting clients in a courteous manner in person and by phone, setting appointments, explaining medical services, medical record keeping, communication between clients and doctors, financial transactions, and animal handling. Additionally, you will complete clerical assignments for doctors and keep the reception area clean. Managerial skills are helpful. Exemplary attendance and punctuality are a must. Receptionists are expected to stay at their post at all times except lunch. Salary will be hourly and based on experience. Hourly rates are typically between $11.00 and $15.00 per hour. Minimal benefits given. Must be able to work Saturdays. Receptionist schedule is generally from 7:15am to 6:30pm with an hour for lunch. Saturdays are 8:00am to 12:00pm. Position Summary: Wayside Waif’s Foster Program relies not only on the many foster volunteers participating in the program but also on the leadership of the program. Wayside needs a Foster Program Coordinator with drive and determination to manage and develop the program.
General Position Accountabilities: Provide strategic direction for the growth of the program. Recruit new foster volunteers and retain existing volunteers through training and relationship building. Create a structured program, utilizing volunteers, that targets dogs in need of behavior modification. Formulate a plan of action, that measures results, to address correcting those behaviors. Increase total number of animals fostered by volunteers. Develop and implement marketing efforts as well as operational strategies, goals, and tactics for the program. Provide regular orientation and training to foster volunteers. Perform foster home visits as needed. Promote and encourage the favorable reputation of Wayside Waifs’ Foster Program within the Kansas City area. Responsible to behaviorally evaluate animals participating in Wayside Waifs’ Humane Education program.
Requirements: Animal handling experience; some veterinary knowledge (drawing blood, vaccinating, etc.). Knowledge of shelter environment including diseases and control thereof. Demonstrates innovation, creativity and follow-through. Desire to be a team contributor and ability to influence volunteers (potential and current) and staff. The ability to organize, train and coordinate small or large groups of people. Excellent communication, written and computer skills, which includes knowledge of Microsoft Office. Academic requirement of an Associates degree or two years of college coursework preferred. Strategist, linear and non-linear thinker, creativity and interpersonal relationship skills are important to the success of this candidate.
