DESOTO – KILL CREEK STREAMWAY OFF LEASH

Half mile of off leash trails next to Kill Creek Streamway entrance. Smaller off leash park w/stream and about half a mile of mowed trails. Tall grass in the main area off the trail. Some trees and a nice bridge over the stream. Right next to the Kill Creek Streamway entrance. (NOT IN KILLCREEK PARK) Location: W 95th St between Kill Creek Rd and Lexington ave. Directions: From 435 go West on K-10 to Kill Creek Rd. Exit. Go South (Left) on Kill Creek. Take the first right (W 95th St). One mile to park entrance on right. EMPORIA – BUCK FUND DOG PARK

Off leash park, agility equipment & more. Fenced – large dog/small dog areas. Off leash dog park. Agility courses. Dog bowl water fountain. Picnic tables. Mutt mitts provided. Location: 2920 West 24th Avenue. Directions: I 35 interstate exit in Emporia for Industrial Road. Go North on Industrial Road to West 24th Avenue. Go West on 24th Avenue very short distance and you will see The Buck Fund Dog Park on your right (north side of street directly across from the Nazarene Church by the water treatment plant towers). GRANDVIEW – BARK PARK

Opened in late 2003, this 5-acre, completely fenced, off-leash dog park is located at Wayside Waifs Humane Society in Grandview, Missouri. A daily membership fee of $2 helps support the maintenance of this park. Fully lighted and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Has separate areas for small dogs and large dogs, also has time out kennels for dogs who become overly excited or exhausted. Has water, poop bags, benches, a shelter. There is an entrance fee. Location: On Martha Truman road between 71 hi-way and Holmes road. Directions: Take 71 south to Red Bridge Road exit. Take a right on Red Bridge Road. Take your first left (at the light) onto Grandview Road. After a mile you will hit your first stop sign at Martha Truman Road. Take a right onto Martha Truman Road. KANSAS CITY – LOOSE PARK

Loose Park. 5 to 6 acres of hills, ponds, and walkway. Most people meet there around 4 or 5 pm. Location: Near the Country Club Plaza, off of Wornall road. Directions: From Country Club Plaza, go South on Wornall (road between Fairmont and Raphael hotels) and Loose Park is on right hand side.

KANSAS CITY – PENN VALLEY DOG PARK

This 2.7 acre off-leash dog park is fully enclosed and double gated, fenced, with 2 picnic tables. Penn Valley Dog Park has been adopted by K-9 Club, Kansas City’s only off-leash play club for dogs, through the Kansas City Parks & Recreation’s Adopt-A-Park program. Come enjoy the park and find out how you can help out with twice-monthly cleanup and additional maintenance projects. Location: The park is just south of the Liberty Memorial between 29th & 31st Streets and Wyandotte. Directions: Parking is available at the Just Off-Broadway Theater at 31st and Broadway. KANSAS CITY – DOG E. PARK

Unofficial Off Lead Canine Gathering Area in Hyde Park. People tend to gather with the dogs about five or six each eve. The area is unfenced and some pups have wandered into the street, hence, supervision and good recall is needed. Location: Off of Gilham Road and 39th Street, go east towards Harrison at the point where Holmes, Charlotte and Campbell meet just west of Harrison. Directions: Turn East on Armour Boulevard from Gilham until Charlotte or Campbell, turn Right {South} for two blocks and at the end where they meet there is a small park area. Bring doggy bags as the dispenser is most often empty.

KANSAS CITY – LONGVIEW LAKE PARK

Check with the Jackson County park ranger before using this area. Unfenced and near heavy traffic, trails in area. Kansas City, Missouri. Location: South of I-470 on Raytown Road. Directions: Park along the roadside – the dog park area is located on the west side of Raytown Road, just south of Longview Road.

KANSAS CITY – WYANDOTTE COUNTY LAKE PARK

Location: Leavenworth Rd and N91st ST. Directions: 1st Right into park.

LAWRENCE – MUTT RUN

“Mutt Run” Off-leash Dog Park. NOT fenced, handicap access, parking, restrooms, waster, trashcans. Hours: dawn to dusk. Location: 1330 East 902 Road. Directions: 1330 East 902 Road, below Clinton Lake Dam, north of spillway. Directions form 23rd Street and Clinton Pky: west on Clinton until you get to a T junction, turn left, before you cross the dam turn left again. Follow the signs to the dog park. LEE’S SUMMIT – JAMES A. REED MEMORIAL WILDLIFE AREA

There are 12 lakes, site is used for dog training as well as tracking and field trials. 2,456 acres of hunting, sporting and dog training area. Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Location: Located south of Hwy 50 on Ranson Road. Directions: Located south of Hwy 50 on Ranson Road, Missouri residents only may obtain the required hunting license and dog training license at the Park Office and they will give directions to specific areas.

LEE’S SUMMIT – OFF-LEAD DOG TRAINING AREA

You must call ahead to use this dog training area. Lake Jacomo, Fleming Park. Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Location: Located east of I-470 on Woods Chapel Road. Directions: Ask at the ranger station for directions to the off-leash area.

OLATHE – HERITAGE PARK

This park is very nice, it is located on about about 10 acres. It has a pond and it is mostly protected by fence. You can go down 151st East until you hit Blackbob where you will make a right, you go down the street until you see the Dog Park to your Left, and you will see lots of dogs having fun and playing. OVERLAND PARK – OFF LEASH DOG AREA (STOLL PARK)

A very large, 9-acre completely fenced off leash dog area park. The park includes water for dogs (and humans). The majority of it is open, and a small portion of it has trees with a few walking paths through it. Location: On 119th Street between Quivera and Pflumm. SHAWNEE MISSION – SHAWNEE MISSION PARK

A special dog area here allows about a 1/2 mile walk to a lake. Dirctions: This park is in the Kansas part of the 435 loop. Take Interstate 4-35 to 87th street, go west about two miles turn right after the baseball fields into Shawnee Mission park. Turn left at the stop. Park is on right. Other Directions: Take Highway 7 south out of Leavenworth, past I-70. Turn east on 83rd Street, south on Woodland, connect with 87th St east, the park entrance is on the left, just before Johnson County Baseball Park. After you enter, take the first left turn. TOPEKA – HILL’S BARK PARK

Off Leash, with separate areas for small and larger dogs. Separate small and large dog parks, water fountains, small agility course, bags provide for cleaning up dog waste, toys, benches for the humans–rules posted near entrance, obvious things, control your dogs, clean up after them/yourself, etc. Location: In Gage Park, just off 10th street.
