Veterinary Day at the Capitol

Meet Your Legislators at the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association

Veterinary Day at the Capitol

March 12, 2019

There is a lot going on at the Capital this year with  Controlled Drug Monitoring Programs, Confiscation of Animals, Civil Immunity for Vets reporting animal neglect/abuse, Breed Specific Regulations and more.

The MVMA is in need of veterinarians to make personal visits to their legislators to help protect our profession and their patients. The goal is at least 50 veterinarians (5 from each MVMA district).

The MVMA is now offering a ‘buddy system!’ Have you ever wanted to attend but didn’t feel comfortable talking with your legislator alone? No need to worry because you can choose for the MVMA to partner you with one of the veterinarians in attendance that have done this before. Then, as a team, you would call on your legislators together. What better way is there to learn, have fun, and get involved? Also, we’ll have a morning of “How To” discussion to make you feel comfortable when calling on your legislators.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page for links to RSVP and for the “Toolkit”. The kit contains talking points, photos and bios for your specific legislators, and more.

Not only is the day at the Capitol important to your livelihood and profession, it’s a fun way to spend the day with a colleague and meet someone who just may influence your future.
